Corrections policy

We verify before we publish, and we would rather be second than wrong. When we make an error, and we will, we correct it promptly, visibly, and without euphemism.

Corrections appear at the foot of the article they correct, labeled Corrections, with the date of the correction and what changed. We do not silently rewrite published copy.

To request a correction, contact the publication that ran the story with the headline, the error, and the correct information. For the parent company, write to [email protected].

Clarifications are labeled as clarifications. Updates to developing stories are labeled as updates with timestamps.
